Headlight question
Hi folks,
This might sound really crazy, having a 2002 camaro Z28 for 2+ years now and not noticing this yet! I had an accident recently which took off front car bumper and the headlight on one side. Went to the auto body..did the repairs and I just noticed that the high and low beams work on separate.
e.g. on low beam the bulbs in the most extreme sides of the car work (only those) and on high bean the bulbs towards the center are switched on but the ones on the extreme side are switched off.
I don't know if I am way off the mark, but is this the normal setup? I somehow had the feeling the on low beam i had all four bulbs work at the same time (i always thought that the high beam was turning on another set of bulbs in the housing). Of course when I say bulbs I leave out the yellow running lights etc. Just talking about the ones in the headlight assembly.
Can anyone check this and let me know if this is normal working? Thanks for the help!
Thanks
Kind Regards
Aby Philip

Re: Headlight question
That's right. You run either low beams only, or high beams only ... not all 4 at the same time (at least not stock).
There's a mod that allows you to run all 4 lamps in the high position.

Re: Headlight question
Check out page 5 of my site in the sig, some tricks for the LS1 headlights...
here is what you need to get all 4 lights on at once:
High and Low beams on at once
Directions:
There are 4 screws under the driver's side dash allow access under the steering column (2 philips, 2 hex). Then there are 2 plastic push pins that hold the rear panel in place, these can be removed by gently prying with a screwdriver. With these panels off, look down the left side of the steering column and there is a white switch with a brown plug and 2 black tabs. Squeeze black tabs and pull the connector off. Make a jumper connection between the large tan wire and the large yellow wire. For safety I used an inline fuse housing with a 30amp fuse, and spliced into the wires using standard wire splice connectors. After installing the fused jumper, reconnect the plug and reinstall the panels
This way if the fuse blows the lights go back to the standard operation instead of blowing the whole headlight fuse. The inline fuse housings are available at most auto parts stores or Wal-Mart. Again this is not required, I just did it for added safety.
