Help identifying my camaro 1997
Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and would like some help identifying my recently purchased camaro. It is a 1997 camaro ss 30th anniversary edition with slp package. Now what I would like to know is, is it an lt4 or lt1? It has a functional air scoop, the filter is in the center on top. I do understand only about 100 lt4s were made so I'd like to know if it is in fact one of them. Also is there anywhere I can find info on it, I've searched but no luck, thanks everyone

Check the door sticker for the LT4 code mixed in with the RPO codes. They are a bunch of 3 letter/number codes all grouped on one sticker.
Here's mine (97 SS):
I'm not sure if the LT4 code was something added by SLP or it was shipped to them that way by GM. Someone with more Camaro experience will be along shortly I'm sure. I believe they would be called out on the RPO sticker though.
If it's a real (96-97) SS there will be SLP stickers on the door and under the hood.
They'll look like this:
You can kinda see the under hood sticker on the black radiator cover just a bit to the driver side of center in this pic:
This is a LT1 engine in mine BTW.
If your car is a real SS, you can get a replacement SLP window sticker from SLP after they verify it's legit. I haven't seen one of the replacements, but this is what the originals look like:

Check your VIN here.

It's highly unlikely the you would have an LT4 and NOT know it. The previous owner would have been asking a lot more $ then normal for the vehicle and had documentation to show it was a real LT4.
