HELP my brothers car wont start

My brothers car wont start and the battery is strong
It is a 1999 Z-28 with a 6 speed tranny and it wont do anything
when you turn the key, everything works but when you turn the starter nothing happens

so we tried to push start it and it would run for a second or two and stop
we hooked jumper cables to it and still nothing

would a bad clutch safety swich not let you clutch start it or not

any halp would be great

he said it did it 2 days ago but after a while it started up just fine

you can bypass the clutch safety switch by connecting the 2 wires together, they are connected to the pedal assembly

 

I would say it's either the alternator or starter. In some cases if the alternator is bad the car wont stay running long even if the battery is ok.

 

it is not the altonator
we tried to jump it off and nothing happned
and when we tried to push start it it would fire, run for a sec, and die like it had been shut off

 

is the secrity light on

 

we did not think to look for that and the car is at work
have to check that in the morning

 

If he's got a spare ignition key try that too.

 

sounds like a fuel pump problem to me

 

how?

the starter won't work, and it runs for a couple seconds push starting it?


definately sounds like a VATS issue

it set for a couple days and now does fine
