HELP window won't shut?
My drivers side window will not shut. It seems to be aligned wrong, because it'll make it up halfway then get stuck on the little panel near the front of it. it's supposed to rain soon and I don't have a garage to put it in. Is there a way I can fix this so it aligns straight? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated
Thanks

Re: HELP window won't shut?
okay so I just took a good look at the door and I think I may have found the problem.
There's a screw/bolt type thing that slides up and down on a metal rod (left bottom corner of the door). It looks like it should connect to a little hole on the bottom of the window. It's definitely not connected, and it seems that it's meant to keep the window aligned towards the bottom. That would explain how floppy the bottom of the window is.
Here's the location of the metal rod I'm talkin about :

And this is the un-connected bolt/screw that looks to be the problem (I shot the picture where you can see where it looks like it should be bolted on the bottom of the window):

Only problem is, it doesn't just bolt back together, so I'm not sure how to re-connect that. What do you think?

Re: HELP window won't shut?
At this point you may have a regulator arm that's bent or a guide roller that popped loose. These are common problems. Get a mirror and run the window up and down while looking at the mechanism. You may end up having to remove the motor/regulator so that you can reattach, or staighten, the components. At the least I suspect that you will have to loosen most of the components to releave the pressure on the track in the pict. But lowering the window may do the trick.

Re: HELP window won't shut?
it's definitely the guide roller that popped loose. I just don't know how I can re-attach it considering the guide bolt is too big to fit back into the hole on the window. If i could just get it attached somehow, I'd be alright. what do ya think? thanks

Re: HELP window won't shut?
I had the same exact problem in my 94 Z, just align the guide pin/window at the point where they "should" meet, and use zip-tie(s)......as long as you can get the roller back into the spot where it's meant to be, run the zip-tie UNDER the roller and up OVER the little "hook" that stops the window from rolling up too far...I did this about a month ago, and from what I have seen/experienced, it does not interfere with anything else, and now my window rolls up/down just like it should, with no horrible clunking noises...sorry I have no pics/write-ups of this procedure, but it is pretty straight-forward, and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me...

Re: HELP window won't shut?
that's a really great idea, i really appreciate the advice. i just went out and tried it, and unfortunately the little hole at the bottom of the window has a slight crack under it, so the zip ties just slide right out. another thing, the damn bolt is still stuck in the roller, which is really not helping. I try to pull it out with plyers and no luck. any experience getting that out? thanks a lot.

Re: HELP window won't shut?
I dont have any experience with this. But from the picture it looks like you would be able to take a drill bit and drill that out. Then you could have someone weld the hole shut later on. This would atleast remove the guide out of the way if thats your problem.

I helped you out in one of your other ones and perhaps you haven't seen it yet.

yeah my fault. I appreciate all the help guys. Is there somewhere online that sells the track/motor combo? or even just the track. I'm having a hard time finding a site.

Re: HELP window won't shut?
cool thanks. i just went to this pos shop near my house, and the mechanic was convinced that i need a new window he said since the guide bolt ( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...panelscrew.jpg ) came apart from the metal part on the bottom of the window, the whole window needs to be replaced...ahhhhh is this true or is he a retard? lol

Re: HELP window won't shut?
Yeah I've read it a few times, it's exactly what is going on. The only thing that threw me off was the mechanic told me you cannot just replace the channel. He said in order for it to be permanently fixed, you must replace the whole window.
