Honest opinion from all you guys

I had my 1994 Chevy 1500 5.7 TBI for about 8 months and it has 168,000 and my friend got it from Cali and he painted it at my shop that I used to work for. He got an offer on a new 1500 and sold me the mint truck. My thing is that he owned it for almost two years and he said use castrol 10w-30w and lucas. He swears on lucas. Should I still be using Lucas additive. It's so heavy. The truck is parked outside and there is times where it sits for 5 days straight. Its my landscaping truck. He swears on Lucas because it stops dry starts and lubes the motor better with the no syn oil thats in it now. He said don't put syn oil because it will prolly **** out. Truck has no leakes and the interior and exterior looks like its off the show room. There is no rust anywhere and I power wash under the truck like he did. Should I use Lucas still or stop?

Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer Benefits:
Increase oil life at least 50% longer
Reduces oil consumption
Eliminates dry starts
Raises oil pressure
Increases power and MPG

Thats from their site; increase power and mpg? minimal at best. its a 5.7, doesnt need more power, its a 5.7, guess you don't expect better mpg haha

Raises oil pressure....why, because there's more liquid inside the oil? and is that really a beneficial "good" thing anyway? can't you raise oil pressure by just putting in some more oil? maybe i'm wrong about that...

Increase oil life at least 50% longer
Reduces oil consumption ---i wouldn't believe either of those...its a product, made by a company, who likes to make money...so they say these things and I don't blame them, but I don't believe them.

don't know about dry starts

I'd say you could probably stop and not worry about it, but then again if its gone the last 14 years with him doing that then it must not be a BAD thing...

Eh, id throw synthetic in it, and call it a day. The only time I hear of folks useing lucas is to stop a knock (nothing like a band aid eh)

I would probably just throw synthetic in it as well.

The only reason it would prevent dry starts is because its so sticky its still on the rotating assembly after youve turned it off.

I would just run regular dino oil and lucas. it works great in those motors.

synthetic is just a waste of money and probably would start burning b/c it would get past the rings and valve seals.

the tbi's arn't like our lt1's guys, they don't use the posi valve seals and the newer technology's.
