Do you let it drop and slam?
Do you let it down gently and then give it a little nudge at the bottom?

I let it down slowly and then when it clicks in but is still up a bit I push gently with both hand and set it in place.

I lower it and then close it slowly. I dont like just throwing the hood down on my baby.

my fiberglass hood doesnt drop and slam. i NEED to press down on it to secure it

 

You need to SLAM the hood on my car man... if you dont, it aint closing.

I've also got a fiberglass hood. I'll lower it to the point where the saftey catch is in it's hole, then I'll use a clean rag if I have it. If I don't I use my fists and give it a quick push.

Try not to touch the paint.

 

I will let it down gently and nudge it closed.

 

Down slow, and latch gently.

 

I lower it by hand until it's maybe four inches from closed, and then I let it drop. It lands just hard enough to latch itself, and then I don't get big handprints on it pushing it down to close.

 

Dont push it.
You want to slam it but gently as possible.

You DO NOT want to have to forcefully push it closed because you are much more likely to dent or deform the sheet metal.

Cant speak to the FB hood, I dont have one.

Same thing with sheet metal doors.

 

I've seen too many dents on people's hoods from pushing it closed (not particularly 4th gens). I let it drop from just high enough that it latches closed.

 

I was tryig to be gentle w/ my buddy's BRAND NEW Dodge Ram. I went to close the hood and gently pushed on it......I dented it in two spots....

They poped back out but I wanted to just crawl in a hole and hide... I was so ashamed....and embarrased.

 

i used to drop it, but ive been pushing it more now that i have a fiberglass hood.
