How does the keyless entry receiver get the signal?

I'm trying to retrofit a factory 95 keyless entry system in a 93 car. I didn't see any wires listed for an antenna or some other signal receiver. Does it get the signal from inside the box?

The module under the dash is the receiver and there is no antenna.. I would think the antenna is inside the module..

It is. It's a wire loop looking thing on one side of the circuit board.

does your car have powerlocks and windows, because I always thought the Keyless entry was in the same module as the keyless entry. Am I wrong here? Is that module just for keyless entry?

Yes, the keyless entry is in the module for the keyless entry.

It's kind of hard to have keyless entry without power locks.

How does one test to see if the transmitter or the receiver is bad?

Don't really know a specific test. One thing I have observed on my own car when the keyless does not seem to unlock or lock the door is that the receiver appears to be getting the signal. I can usually hear a click from the module or see the mirror light come on (when out of the car and doors closed). Since the lock operators always work by the manual switches, I assume that the module has occasional problems.

yeah that didnt make any sense. Are power locks controled out of the same module as the keyless entry? Thats what I meant to say

Well, the keyless entry receiver is what operates the locks when you use the key fob. It's purpose is to allow remote activation of the locks and hatch.

When you use the switches on the doors, the circuit to the locks still passes through relays in the receiver, but the receiver does not actually operate. It's relay contacts allow passing of the voltage or ground through a set of contacts that "make" (or connect) when the relay is in an unoperated state.
