How much for shocks from dealer??
I am going to be taking in my 1999 Z28 to the dealer to have them install shocks on my car, are the shocks they sell real expensive? How much might installation be? I would like to afford Bilsteins but i just cant right now.

well you'll probably pay 1/2 hour to 1 hour for install on each.
not too mention dealer prices are alot, i should know i work at one.
i would buy the take-offs from slp ( 50 bucks for all four last time i checked ) and have someone put them in

yes we are
like i said buy them cheap and have anohter shop do 'em
you have to have a speed shop or something that would be willing to install them for way cheaper than a dealer

You would likely pay more at the dealer for stock shocks, that what you can buy a set of Bilstein's for (~$300). They are not as expensive as you think and are far better than the stock shocks. SLP used to sell a set (4) "take-off" shocks for $50. I don't know if they have any left.

What puzzles me is what kind of driving do you do to kill your shocks in 5 years? They should still be okay. But, as stated above, buy somewhere else and have someone else put them on.

Save yourself some money and put the shocks on yourself. If you aren't competent enough to do the fronts, atleast do the ones in the rear...the rear shocks are super easy to do! It should only take about an hour to do the rear shocks.

stock decarbon shocks die fast.. over the time period of years, you probably don't notice it until it gets really bad... my rear shocks were dead around 35kish miles.. Under heavy cornering transitions, it felt like the weight in the rear would flop around, almost like I had a bowling ball lose in the back...
