hurst shift **** adjustment

i got my car over a month ago, and just noticed that the H on the shift **** is sideways. while taking it off the shifter, i noticed that if the elongated part of the **** is pointing toward the front of the car, it's a lot more comfortable, so im assuming thats how its supposed to be. but when i screw it in tight, its about 90 degrees short of being in that position. is there any way i can adjust it to make it stay in the right position when tightened? thanks. if it matters, its an 02 z28 M6 with the leather hurst shift ****...

Re: hurst shift **** adjustment

A redneck way would be to take a small piece of paper and fold it up and place it on the top of the shifter, then thread the **** over it making sure to keep the paper out of the threads. The paper would take up some of the room at the top and compress making the fitment tight once you get it where you need it. It might take a few tries to get the right amount in there.

The correct way would be to get a thin nut with the correct threads and use that under the shift **** to lock it in place once you have it where you want it.

That's a great idea! I can get one for like 50c. Thanks!

well, i actually ended up doing it the redneck way. it works well enough. i decided to skip the nut, since i ordered a new shift stick yesterday, and itll be here in a few days, so it may fit correctly.
