I need help!!!!!

ok i was thinking of getting a 2000 camaro ss coupe 6 speed to get me into some trouble. I dont think the stock LS1 is beefy enough so i was checking out LS2 motors and they make 400+ hp that would be nice. So im asking you guys for some help would everything match up or are they not compatable????

You could do an LS2 swap, but for the record, the LS1 is a pretty stout motor and can handle a large margin of power on a stock bottom end. Also, the aftermarket support for the LS1 platform is huge, there are tons of aftermarket blocks or complete bottom ends that you can buy and put in.

Thats what my dad told me also. I was thinking i could strap on a twin screw supercharger that would boost up the HP. Vortech makes a impeller style supercharger, i havent heard much about those. I think Banks makes a twin turbo kit for an LS1.

As mentioned, the aftermarket support for the LSx platform is endless. You can easily spend days going through different high performance parts and setups that are out there right now. It just comes down to what your goals are and how much you want to spend.

forced induction is for people who can't build engines

I agree with them, just mod the LS1

If you want a supercharger, an ATI Procharger is the way to go. You won't find any screw-type superchargers for LS1 F-bodies -- there isn't room under the hood.

Turbocharging an LS1 is a wallet-emptying exercise. Supercharging is significantly less expensive for equivalent power, but depending on your goals, still may not the most affordable way to go.

That said, how fast do you want to go? You can go VERY fast without forced induction. Heck, $1000 for a good cam and new valve gear, and you'll have more power than an LS2.

Just a guess -- are you coming over from the import crowd? We have a lot more options for ways to make horsepower here in the pushrod V8 world -- you don't have to do an engine swap!
