Re: I pipe question

Buy a whole new cat back...If you upgrade to a bigger I pipe only your over the axle pipe is still 2.5 inches and is going to stop the performance you would gain from the I pipe. If all you have is a flowmaster muffler it isn't doing anything for performance so just put a whole new system on.

Re: I pipe question

i think he means from the Ypipe collector all the way back to the muffler inlet. since he mentioned it was 2 pieces.

i'm trying to remember how different the LS1 setup is from the dual cat setup on your 97. i don't think it's much...wouuld probably work.

call up dynomax...or call summit, they may have them but not list them.

i also know you can get the pipe from mac

Re: I pipe question

Go to the Dynomax web site and look under GM Products. It will give you a PDF format list/diagram of all there F-Body exhaust stuff. Get the part numbers for the I-pipe there.

Re: I pipe question

the over-axle part will be identical.

if you were to attach it to a muffler...run it over the axle and towards the front of the car...the LS1 pipe would end short of the LT1 ypipe. a simple piece of pipe would sufice for the "adapter"

Re: I pipe question

so i would need a peice of pipe to go over a 3 in od pipe so it would be like 3 1/4 id pipe i think but other then that it would work? what about the hanger on the overaxle would i need anything special to make it work?

Re: I pipe question

I had a 97 Z28 before this car. I reused the GMMG from the 97 on the 02 with no adapter. It bolted right up to the stock Y-pipe. I had to have a hanger made for the driver side tail pipe because the hanger is different for LT1 and LS1 cars. The I pipe became the same length in LT1 cars as LS1 cars in whatever year it was that they got dual cats.

Re: I pipe question

alright cool well my muffler is already on i just dont have a 3 inch pipe between that and the y pipe so im looking at getting one summit has both peices the overaxle and I pipe total it will be 110 shipped for them both instead of 200 muffler man wanted to make me the same **** except they would make it one peice instead of two but i guess two peices is a easier install

Re: I pipe question

It will work. The 1996 and up I pipe and over the axle pipes should all be the same.

Re: I pipe question

i knew it was close...

all i know is the 93-95 single cat pipe will be WAY off...they needed a big S bend to get up to the ypipe.
