What do I need to buy to fabricate this. I know two mufflers. I just ordered long tubes and I want to run true duals for better flow. Ive seen on here cutting the y pipe and connecting an X pipe but I dont see how that would work? THanks guys

 

the universal X pipe setup from jegs should be about all you need for the main part of it.

unless you're planning on running a big h/c setup, stick with the 2.5" duals for the increased ground clearance. so for that you'll need a reducer of some kind.

for mufflers i suggest the chambered mufflers.

although i'm going with 4x9 magnaflows for my 3" duals

 

I wouldn't go with a chambered muffler because they've been shown on dynos to pick up less power than a straight-through design (especially Flowbastard). I'd go with something like a Dynomax Ultraflow or if you want ridiculously loud, a bullet muffler.

should i dump the exhaust before the rear axle or go over it? Could an exhaust shop run it over the axle? or could I run it with the exhuast dumped before the axle and wait till i find a shop to fab it for me?

 

over the axle is alot harder and more expensive.

the most successful setups over the axle usually run side by side in the stock location. if you wanted to do that you'd probably be better off cutting the Ypipe, extending each side and mating up to a crossover.

dual 2.5" pipes should run over the axle side by side with out much problem.

i say just dump them...much easier...cheaper...lighter...and sounds better.

hopefully gonna be installing my mufflers (currently no cats or mufflers) on my duals in the next week or so...i plan to pull the whole thing off and dress the welds and maybe paint it up...

It's a real PITA putting true duals on an F-body. You're better off getting a 3"-4" Y and a single 4" catback exhaust and calling it a day.

 

I went with mufflers off a 69 camaro. Chambered pipes.

Its quite easy if you buy the setup.

I just got the TSP true dual setup and it couldnt have gotten any easier to install and sounds AWSOME!

 

ive hade true duals on both my 99ls1 and my 02ls1 one and they were both the same setup. no cats, 3'' pipe, and 2 2 1/2'' dynomax bullet mufflers dumped before the axle. the most recent true dual setup was put to high and every time i would hit a bump or gas on it, it would hit the back seat. ive also seen some already fabricated true dual setups for sale on ebay. just go type in camaro true duals and see what you find. they arent really that expensive. well good luck man.

 

There are people who purchased the e-bay kits complaining about its quality. Read the feedback first.

BMR sells a panhard relocation kit that will allow true duals up to 3 inch over the axle.

 

i ran mine over the axle, was really quit simple. to save a little time use the stock pipe as a guid to bend the new ones, or find an extra stock pipe and slid it into place. also do not put a bullit muffler on your car! i ran a pair on my setup, was sooo loud i got tickes at idle, i left my car running one night when i dropped off this girl and all her dishes were rattling in the cabnits. after the cops wouldnt lay off i caved in bought a pair of flowmaster baby 40's, dont remember the part number but call the number on the website and they can help you, the muffler is around 7" wide and 12" long, almost the size of the 10 series but a little biger (size if rough guess, but they are very small and fit nice under the rear of the car, they are just a little bigger the my outstreached hand). these mufflers gave me a better sound and smoother rev thoughout the rpm range and about 15 hp, over the bullits. it still sets off car alarms, but not at idle.

disclaimer: this was my personal experiance. i still have my bullits if you want them. i do not ship. also www.texasfbody.com has a couple clips of me with the billits and the old wheels. nothing new all clips are a few years old.

 

I also have the TSP true duals and IMO you can't beat 'em.

 

If you want to fab them yourself you'll need a welder, chop saw, expander (if you want to slip fit the joints) and sections of various angles of pipe. Unless you want to bend it, then you'll need a pipe bender and some straight pipe.
