Ignition Coilpacks...

I got a 1997 Camaro RS with a 3.8 V6, What sized socket do you use to get them off?

Re: Ignition Coilpacks...

gonna venture a guess and say probably one of the 3 common sizes on the fbody
10mm, 13mm or 15mm

i'd put my $$ on the 10mm that is what my ls1 coil packs are

10 or 7 or 8 mm. Those are the common sizes for coilpacks...in that area at least

Re: Ignition Coilpacks...

Okay, I've tried 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm, 5.5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 9mm, 10mm 11mm, 12mm... All of them no go! They won't lock or stay on. I got a question, is it the very HEAD they're trying to lock onto or that round cylendar below it thats burried into the coilpack?

Also how do you take out the entire module assembly?

Re: Ignition Coilpacks...

How can't you get a socket onto them? Are they by chance 12-point bolt heads that require a 12-point socket instead of a 6-point? Just a thought?

Finally got em off! Silly thing happened was that I was using the wrong end of the socket... 5.5mm or 7/32 worked.
