Ignition Relay in a 1981 - where is it ?

Just a heads up…. There are no more than a half-dozen active members left. And most of them, like me, are 4th Gen owners. Might take a while to get the info you need.

Actually, scratch that. I have a source for older service manuals, but unfortunately it only goes back to ‘82 for Camaro. At first I was thinking, “only one year off? I’ll bet the ignition relay’s in the same place.” But that was last night, and I guess I was tired, because this morning I realize immediately that ‘81-82 was a generation change, and the two couldn’t be more different.
That said, anyone who can answer a question like this will need those details about your car.
Meanwhile, get under the hood. Find the coil, and trace the main power wire back. You should find the relay fairly easily that way. If you get all the way to the battery without encountering a relay, then there isn’t one (or you missed it). In particular, you may find that instead of a relay, the ignition switch (on the steering column) makes and breaks the connection mechanically.
