Installing Oil Pressure guage

I got an Autometer Phantom Oil pressure gauge (electric/full sweep). Anyone install one of these? I understand that I need to connect positive wire to a 12v dashlight wire somewhere for the bulb, any tips on that?

Connecting positive for guage to ignition wire should be easy and
Grounding it will be easy enough.

Now the signal wire I am lost on. I need all the advice I can get on that one. I read the install instructions on Autometer.com but still dont know where to look in the engine bay.

you need the autometer sender, then just run a wire from the sender to the gauge

as for the light wire, see if there is a fuse labeled dash lights or something, if so, tap it

Typically, there is a spade lug in the fuse box at the end of the dash, labeled "IGN". That is switched +12V power, and protected by the adjacent fuse. I've been using that one on my 94 for all the gauge power. Get a 1/4" female spade lug connector at Radio Shack, attach it to the gauge power wire, and push the femal lug over the lug in the fuse panel.

For the lights, you need to tap into the light switch or the instrument panel dimmer switch. On my Formula, with no fog lights, I tapped into the unused harness connector for the fog light switch, under the dash near the headlight switch. Not sure if the 99 has anything similar.

How hard is it to install the sender unit? I am not sure if there is an auxillary port on the ls1 block or not or where it would be located at. Any help with that. that is my biggest issue right now. I think I can figure the rest out.

I don't know on an LS1

at worst, you may need a "T" off the oil port for the stock sender

someone who knows the LS1 will chime in soon, I'm sure
