more than likely what is happening is that the bulb is infact bad. the filament has separated somewhere and when you hit a bump the filament re-connects itself for a second. if the bulb isn't working, try replacing it first thing. they aren't that expensive, and if it still doesn't work, atleast you know you have a good bulb in.
