Looking to change exhaust...

I have a 1997 3.8 with the Y87 package, so I already have a dual outlet muffler. I am pretty happy with the sound, and I don't want something super loud. I also don't know that I'll be keeping the car for a VERY long time, so I don't really want to put a lot of money into it. What I am looking for is a dual outlet exhaust that doesn't turn down; I want to see the tips come out the back. Is it terribly expensive to have a muffler shop just put new tailpipes on? I also want some dual/dual tips. Does anyone have some relatively cheap suggestions?

Thanks,
Frank

New tips would be alot cheaper than a whole new cat back. If you buy the tips yourself, you can either have them tack welded on so someone doesnt steal them, shouldnt be too much at a muffler shop, or just clamp them on yourself for only the cost of the clamps. You will have to cut your stock tailpipes before they start to turn down so the new tips will be level with the rear bumper.

yes, tips can do alot for sound. Also, if you want a new cat-back or just muffler, look into a used SLP dual/dual or magnaflow here in the marketplace

How would I cut them off? Just a hacksaw?

Thanks,
Frank

pretty much. hack saws take a long time though. I used an angle grinder and put on a cut-off wheel for mine
