Loss of power

Loss of power
Well, It's time to order my exhaust.
Yesterday morning on the way to work my car felt low on power.:blah:
On the way home one of my co-workers wanted to play a little so I drop her into 3rd and stand on it At 4000 she falls on her face
by a 4 cyl. S-10.
Anyway, today it's much worse, it tops out at 60MPH!
Very slugish and I smell eggs.
The exhaust even sounds quieter.
So do you think it's the cat?
I do, Gonna order the Rumbler and a high-flow cat.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Loss of power
I usally run with Sunoco mid-grade.
The strange thing is the first owner had the cat replaced at the dealer at 40,000 miles she now has 64,000 miles on the clock.
I gotta wonder if it may have to do with the Hypertech power programmer.

Re: Loss of power
Sounds like it's deffinately the cat. That is pretty much a textbook case that you have.
The cat could very well have been bad right out of the box, thus shortening the life of it.
Another possible senario could be the installation. I had a brand new cat welded on and it lasted no more than 2 months maybe. The exhaust shop guy had made a mistake and did something I didn't want. So he had to reweld around the cat a second time and used a lot of welding slag.
The "honeycomb" inside the cat had cracked and broken to bits, thus clogging the exhaust. I was told that it happend because the exhaust guy who wleded it, over-heated the cat.
Hope that helps some
