"low trac" light on a non-ASR car...?

my car is not equipped with ASR (as far as im aware), but ive had the 'low trac' light come on a few times, and it wasnt because the abs kicked in. when barely losing traction, it has never come on, but when wheelspin gets up there, its lit up on occasion. is this normal? or does my car have secret ASR just to **** me off? ^_-

You only have ASR if you have RPO code NW9 on the build tag, and a switch to turn it off.

Re: "low trac" light on a non-ASR car...?

usually LOW TRAC comes on when the ABS thinks you're sliding and it starts working. i had an issue several years ago where the low trac would come on under normal braking under 5mph and the pedal would get really hard, then jump down almost to the floor then pop back up. it scared me a couple times cause it made the car take more distance to stop. after doing this 2 or 3 times the ABS INOP light would come on. it turned out to be either worn pads or slightly warped rotors creating a difference in wheel speed signal to the wheels which made the car think it was sliding. new rotors and pads fixed the problem, just FYI.

it works normally during braking, i just didnt know it could detect wheelspin, since i dont have ASR.
