LT Clearance

Just wondering what an upgrade to LT headers will do to my ground clearance? I have a buddy with a 97 Mustang Cobra who put LT headers on and his ground clearance went to sh*t, so I am kinda concerned to put them on my 98 z. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Re: LT Clearance

My Jet Hots headers aren't a problem at all, but the Y-pipe is about an inch or so lower than stock. You can see it under the car when looking at the driver's side.

Re: LT Clearance

i think that SLP is really the only LT that has a lot of problems with clearnce... everything else should be pretty good...

Re: LT Clearance

im sure it is pretty tuff for someone who knows jack... shorties are a waste on 00-02 cars because the stock manifolds flow prettty much the same... i think the gains are like 5rwhp

teke has an instal page on his cardomain check it out

Re: LT Clearance

here is the install guide

clearance shouldn't be too bad. the ypipe is usually what you lose the most clearance with. since most LT ypipes are 3" and they have to go under part of the frame.

but to date i've never scrapped my headers, ypipe (when i had it) or my true duals now.
and florida has alot of speed bumps and steep driveways.

Re: LT Clearance

On a stock ride height car, I think you should be ok. My friend has long tubes and a catted y-pipe on his 00 z28 and he hasn't dragged anything ever. If you do, you are most likely to catch the y-pipe before the headers.

Re: LT Clearance

My pacesetters fit great. If you put on LT's forget about lowering your car. It will drag on evreything everywhere.

With stock springs it wasnt bad though.

Re: LT Clearance

i have midlength headers and mine's lowered and there is a little metal tab bolted to the frame next to the exhaust by the cat on the passenger side that hangs down 1" past the exhaust to let you know when you're scrapin and yea, lowered with midlengths scrapes every now and then so i wouldn't recommend lowering if you get LT

Re: LT Clearance

For most guys, Pacesetter LTs are the way to go. A lotta people go with "bigger" name brands, but may not know why. If it cost more, it must be better, right? That's not always the case...and when you buy Pacesetter you will give a little on the coating. If that worries you, you can always buy uncoated and have them coated by whoever ya want. But in general, I've heard about less issues with the Pacesetter LTs.

Re: LT Clearance

Pacesetter headers are an example of a product that started out very poorly and then got a LOT better..fitment,coating and the welds are MUCH better than they used to be.

I must have had the "old" style on my LT1. The fitment was HORRIBLE!! I learned my lesson and never bought cheap headers again.
