Unhappy Metal pipe on front of water pump

Hello, I got a replacement non AC/Delco water pump a couple of months ago. Last night my son drove it and the metal elbow piece that is on the bottom left (facing car)-hose goes in the direction of the battery came out. A "parking lot mechanic" told him the "O" ring blew out. They used electrical tape to seal it. No one at AutoZone could say for sure if it had a "O" ring or what. Is it fixable or is it pressed in or does the whole pump needs replacing. Use a sealant to glue it in?? Thanks for any help. P.S I know i should have went AC/Delco now.

I took a look at an old water pump in the garage and I'm almost certain all the pipes are pressed in. FWIW when my original pump went south I replaced it with a new pump from NAPA which was significantly cheaper than the GM pump. At this point the NAPA pump has been on the car longer than the OEM pump. HTH

I have heard that happening with numerous reman pumps. The pipes are pressed in. When mine went out a long time ago, I went with a new GM (AC-Delco) pump.
