So i spot a C5 last night speeding around and we get to the light, give the nod. Light turns green and we're off. from 0-80 he only had me by a car and not really pulling away.. I let off at 80 because it was a dangerous place to speed (cop wise). Should i be able to keep up? He seemed to have decent traction.. I didn't have any traction till the middle of 2nd.. I'm slightly confused...

 

Maybe he was afraid to drive his car to it's limit. Wouldn't be the first Vette owner in the world like that.

 

Your sure its supercharged? Your car is only pushing what, 350-400RWHP? Wouldn't a S/C LS1 be more at around 400-450RWHP, not to mention the aerodynamic and weight advantage. Those results do seem about right for a stock C5. Did you hear any whine from the blower?

 

How do you know he was supercharged?

 

Horsepower TV put a supercharger on a '98 Camaro and got 540rwhp (it had several other supporting mods).

C5's aerodynamic advantage doesn't come into play to any significant degree at those speeds.

 

i heard the whine, and then asked him at the next redlight. His response was, "That thing isnt stock is it?" I'm thinking he felt bad... maybe he didn't know how to drive... who knows.

 

LS1 accessory belt whine sounds a little bit like a small supercharger. Did he actually say his car was supercharged?

it was also a built low compression 383 with heads, FAST intake and bolt ons.

even with a h/c upgrade that they did, with the low compression setup they made 370rwhp.

that's how they were able to get all that power out of that car. the engine build up was last season

 

He said yes. sorry i failed to include that. His exact response to my queston, "Did i hear a supercharger" was, "yes... that thing isnt stock is it" . I think i did pretty good. or he did pretty bad, or both.

 

You probably fended off pretty well, its hard to tell though when you don't exactly what is done to his car.

 

Not all superchargers whine. Did it have the stock hood?

 

It did have a stock hood. I don't think he was lying. Saying his car was supercharged when it wasnt would make the situation worse.

 

If it had the stock hood, it wasn't likely a whine you were hearing from a supercharger. Positive displacement superchargers do not fit under the stock hood, if I recall.

 

Doesnt matter what he had, he drove badly. Stock for stock you would lose every time.

 

Stock for stock he would get annihilated everytime. This wasn't about stock for stock though.
