My Rear Hatch won't open

For some reason my hatch won't open when I push the button on my remote or the button under the dash. I hear it releasing but when I try to pull it up, well, it doesn't go up. I removed my speaker box to see if maybe that was the problem but no luck. The only way I can open it is if I stand behind the car and push the button on the remote and time it just right to where when I hear it release I pull it up. I shouldn't have to do that everytime I want to open it and when I take it to the car wash they can't open it so I have to open it for them and that's just emberessing. Has anyone had this problem? How do you fix it?

Okay, I think your saying when you pull on the hatch and hit the release button the hatch will open. If that's correct then its the spring that opens the hatch and can be replaced. Try this link http://installuniversity.com/install...sity/index.htm

That should do it. Goodluck

Check the battery in the remote. Check for burned fuses.

Great link! Same problem: The hatch release won't release the hatch, but the key will. The dealer took two shots at it under warranty, and "fixed the problem" (both times). The thing is, it ain't fixed, and I wasted my time. I'll just do it myself.

Re: My Rear Hatch won't open

I always have to hit my remote 4 or 5 times to get it to fully release, especially when it's cold outside...one of these days I'll finally remember to get a spring and do this.

Try moving the rubber garments out first. The ones on the inside of the hatch. It'll help. Won't fix the problem though. Good Luck

Unhappy Re: My Rear Hatch won't open

It didn't work. I did it exactly the way it showed in the diagrams but it still doesn't open, it pops up a lot harder though. When I push the button to open it I hear it open but then it closes again right after it does it like half a second after it "opens". What else could it be?

Re: My Rear Hatch won't open

I had the same problem when my hatch struts died. Just like you described, I would push the button and hear it release, but then it wouldn't open. I replaced the struts and now it works fine. Doesn't make sense, but it worked for me.
