Re: Not yo typical oil question

i guess im not explaining this good ...i always noticed that everyone is on 5w30's nuts, but not many people talk about the 10w30 as much, physical differences aside, does the 10w30 have the same manufacturing process as the 5?...because at one point i remember reading that the 10 doesnt stack up to the 5's lubrication abilities

5W-30 will flow easier at lower temps than 10W-30 though 10W-30 doesn't shear as easily as 5W-30.

Either would work fine unless you are in extreme temp situations.

During the summer months, I usually will use a thicker 30w oil (GC) and during the winter, I'll go with a thin 5w-30 (M1).

Do a search for user "patman", and you'll find out more than you want to know about oil.

Thumbs up Re: Not yo typical oil question

When I went to all synthetic through out the drivetrain (power steering too) my car picked up approx. 2 tenths in the quarter mile. Can we say a best of 10.49 @ 129.83 so far on this 3900 lb. pump gas street car.
