Oil pressure

Oil pressure is a little low when idling.. Once i warm the car up (drive it around a little) and let it idle the oil pressure drops form 40-50(when driving) to about 13-18 when idling.. Going to check the oil pump when i change out the oil.. But thats goin to be a while.. still have about 350-400 miles to drive before i really need to change the oil.. It is a new engine.. only put 146 miles on it so far. Just seeing if anyone would know what the problem may be so i don't have to do alot of guessing.

You need to provide info regarding your car and engine. We can guess its an LT1.... but why make us guess?

What viscosity oil are you using?

What is the oil pressure at cold idle? You can't compare cold "driving" to warm "idle". Oil pressure is highly dependant on RPM.

Why not put basic info about your car in your signature - year, model, engine, trans and any major mods. That way people can respond without the need to ask for additional info.

It's a LT-1 350. The oil i'm using is Royal purple 5w-30, Start up and driving the oil pressure is around 40-45. When idling after driving it drops to about 13-18 range. Dont have anything in my car becuase it's basically all stock

Sounds like it was assembled "loose". Did the engine builder recommend the 5W-30? Is it a standard volume or high volume pump? What is the typical coolant temp when fully warmed up?

The pressures you cite are adequate, as long as you have 10psi per 1,000RPM (means 60PSI at 6,000RPM).
