Oil recommendations

Ok all, I am planning on doing my first oil change on the Z28. Car has 27K miles on it, and I am not sure what type of oil I should put in there. I am thinking about putting synthetic in there, but am open to suggestions. Thanks!

If you can't find GC, M1 0w-40 synth is a good second choice.

Re: Oil recommendations

I use Pennzoil Platinum full syn in my LS1. I have used conventional oil in my third-gen every since I have owned it, which goes clear back to 99. I beleive synthetics are better, but in some cases, especially on a lightly stressed engine, it can be overkill. People will probably disagree, but I just simply can't complain about regular oil, when changed regularly.

Re: Oil recommendations

Castrol has another Syntec that is as good or better than the rare GC. look on the front of the bottle, it will say it meets european specs, those words are in a yellow box on the front. afaik, this full syn is very commonly available at AZ, and probably other retailers.

Re: Oil recommendations

I only use the Mobil 1 synthetic as well, but I hear constant good things about the Castrol oil.
