I was just wondering, I have come across a 94 Z28 in very good shape, it was built to be a driver/weekend racer (roll bar installed). It has T-tops and appears to be in very good overall condition. My question is this, how much can be made off of parting out one of these cars? I am primarily interested in the drivetrain and front seats. Anything other than that would be sold to fund the project that is getting the drivetrain (its a chevy malibu incase you are wondering).

What are the big ticket items on a car like this, and what will likely end up going to the scrap yard when I am done.....or will the car be worth some amount less engine and seats?

With a straight body and nice interior, you could probably make close to $1,000 I'd think, maybe a bit less.

 

You may be able to make some money off the doors and other body panels. The tranny and rearend may also be of some value to someone if they are still in good shape. Other then that, you can tally up some decent money with all the small ticket stuff.

 

I bought a 97 Z28 from a board member with no engine and tranny and made close to 2k parting it out. Left front and right rear were heavily damaged.

I kept the leather seats and dash for my self but sold said parts from my 94 .

It's a lot of work and I sold EVERY little part I could get anyone to buy. I sold parts here and on Ebay.
