Ported heads, stock or aftermarket?

Hey guys, I'm looking to add ported heads to my lt1, any suggestions on if I shod get the stock heads ported or just buy aftermarket? Thanks!

Re: Ported heads, stock or aftermarket?

Depends on the HP you are looking for. Ported stock LT1 heads are good for up to 500 HP at the flywheel. Over that, you are looking at ported aftermarket heads.

I'm looking to get around 500rwhp and It might be a good idea to just go with aftermarket heads, what's your opinion in forged internals? I've heard the stock crankshaft is pretty hard to break.
