Re: Possible rare camaro????
Are you sure this Camaro isnt an 86 ? I had one back then . I wound up selling it to my friend and then he sold it it to his brother . He wrecked it and that was the last i saw of it . The 140 speedo I put that in my car . I bought one from a gm performance place . I changed it # 1 it looked cool , 2 I had pinned my 85 MPH speedo so many times it just bounced around and didnt work so well .
What I guess im trying to say that they made 140 speedos aftemarket through GM . Unless thats my old CAR ??
Thats not possible is it ? Where are you from ?

Re: Possible rare camaro????
i wouldn't say that...
there are a few years of the 1LE package that only a handfull were produced.
finding an original one of those would be KILLER
or one of those fabled 6spd 3rd gens that they reportedly made 2 or 3 or

Re: Possible rare camaro????
he didn't beat on the car...it just started developing rust from our wonderful chicago salted roads. plus he's a bady man and he repainted it the same color which is black.. he used a deep gloss black because he wanted no clear coat because it fades out the true black. the car is real nice and real sharpe. he waws just wondering about the speedo and the seats.

Re: Possible rare camaro????
Let me get this straight...the seats have Camaro repeated going down the seat and this was stopped because of licensing problems?
Since when can't the manufacturer put the name of their own car on something they produced? I don't get it.

Re: Possible rare camaro????
I had the "CAMARO CAMARO CAMARO" seats and door panels in my 84 Z28.. It was a Lear Sigler Contuer seat option offered from 83-86 I believe... It's not partial year, but it's still fairly rare.

Re: Possible rare camaro????
Had 'em in my '85 that is still somewhere (likely in a field) in Missouri. Red in color, car was originally a red/orange color, kinda like rust, which is was beginning to do real bad. That car I wouldn't call rare, other than the fact it will still start with a spun main bearing, lol...
IMHO, those that see how the market is affected by the 1st and 2nd gens, as well as the majority of collectable muscle cars (ie, virtually all of 'em), will note that the issues of production numbers, colors etc will always play a role on value, especially as time goes on. It's just a matter of fact.
A Camaro and/or Firebird is not "rare". But a '92 1LE camaro is indeed classified as rare, as is a '92 Pontiac Firehawk. Especially if it is/was green.
A 1LE will demand more money normally, due to the options it had that were either only ordered or delivered without those options, or very few were produced. Some years more rare then others, just like your typical auto auction vehicle seen on say, Barrett/Jackson's Auto Auctions.
A signed by Dale Earnhardt SS is worth quite a bit, especially if it's an Earnhardt SS. Same with Indy Pace Car editions (like the '82 Camaro and '93 Camaro's), and the now very rare '89 Turbo Trans Am's (TTA's).
You probably couldn't care much about a restored '80 Turbo Trans Am, but believe me when I say there WILL be a day when that car restored or original will go for quite a pretty penny. Same with say, an IROC that is all original, stock condition, I'd say especially convertibles.
The special editions of all sorts of vehicles are what set them apart, same as why you pay more for a V8 vice the V6, etc. I think hardtop 4th gen 6-speed LT/LS1's are going to be at the top of that list, but I may be wrong, they may be at the bottom, but I doubt it. Same w/1LE's/B4C's(somewhat) & of course, the tuner cars by Berger, Earnhardt, SLP, etc.
I wish I still had my red '87 Camaro. It was an LG4, hardtop, auto, steel wheels, power steering, power brakes, and that's it. Not even a rear window defroster.
...but it had an electric motored trunk, but no button up front to release it. It worked and everything by putting the key in as normal, just thought it was really odd to have pretty much no options, and a power trunk motor. Had a lot of fun in that car (Memphis, TN), good ol' days...

I sat in an 84 Z28 with the Lear Sigler "CAMARO CAMARO CAMARO" option. The seats had the normal electric adjustments like any GM car. The bottom cushion also extended out, and the lumbar was manually adjustable. These seats were far more comfortable than any other crap seat put in the 3rd and 4th gen cars. That's right, the 1983 Camaro had a better seat than the 2002 models.

Re: Possible rare camaro????
I don't know about better...The Trans Am seats have always been a step above the Camaro's in comfort, but I do believe the seats in the Turbo Trans Am I had were the best. A close second, IMO, is the 4th gen TA seats.
You are correct about them being nice though, even old, they are very comfortable.
