Power Seat not working and fuse is HOT.
My power seat sudddenly stopped working and I checked the fuse it was so hot I had to grab some pliers to pull it out. My head unit was replaced around the time I noticed the seat wouldnt move too.
Are there any wires needed for the power seat by the head unit?

Re: Power Seat not working and fuse is HOT.
They are on seperate circuits the seat is controled by a circuit breaker not a fuse , as for the seat not working if the circuit gets the breaker hot usually means a short in the motor...

Re: Power Seat not working and fuse is HOT.
Find out if the fuse block was taped in to for power. This would be a stupid thing to do becuse the plug and play harnesses for aftermarket head units are so cheap its not worth splicint into the stock wiring.
Like stated above . The breaker getting hot enough to trip and burn your hand is a signt hat the motor on the seat is shot. try tapping on the motor with a hammer and if that doesnt free it up time to buy a new one. Im betting that the only place to get one would be the dealer.

Re: Power Seat not working and fuse is HOT.
Did you have your rear defroster on at the time???
In case you guys didn't know, the rear defrost and the power seat run off the same 30A breaker (not a fuse). Some cars (mine was one of them, this is how I know) have a problem with the rear defroster grid (draws too much current) and it'll over-heat the breaker when it's running ... eventually it gets to the point it won't even work at all.
And THEN, if you try to move your power seat, it won't work either!! Check it out. A "quick fix" is to replace the 30A breaker with a 30A fuse ... the breaker "trips" too easy, whereas the fuses will keep working, unless they actually blow. If it becomes a problem for you, you'll either A) need to get your rear window replaced, B) not use the rear defroster, or C) keep replacing 30A fuses!
OR, it's something completely different?!

I used to be a pro installer for audio equip. is it was done right with a harness adapter (like Scosche GM02 witch is what yours needed i belive) the radio shouldnt interfear with the seat at all =-)

Re: Power Seat not working and fuse is HOT.
The 30A fuse trick has worked for me. I've had it like that for almost a year now and haven't had to replace the fuse. Just don't move the seat and turn on the defroster at the same time.
