question about head upgrade

question about head upgrade

Just wondering are there any stock type head upgrades for a 94 z28 lt1
By stock type I mean something I could just pull off another car or did they skip the bs and just go ahead and put the good heads on them

You can only use LT1 or LT4 heads on an LT1 block. The coolant passages do not match the earlier small block Chevy heads/block, The LT1 heads on the B-Body (Impala SS) are cast iron, and while they flow a bit better than the F-Body/Y-Body aluminum heads, the have a lower compression ratio and the cast iron limits the spark advance, not to mention adding extra weight to the front end of the car. While the LT4 heads offer a 15% flow increase, you can achieve a much greater flow increase by porting your stock LT1 heads. Aftermarket heads are expensive, and some offer very little in the way of improved performance.

The best thing to do is have your stock LT1 heads ported by an proven LT1 head porter. Have them spec a matching cam, in line with the planned use of the car. Here'a couple places that are proven to produce excellent results:

kk sounds like a plan thats probally what i will do just didn't know cause i admit i used to be a mustang guy and there we normally a few better stock options for heads like a pi change or a gt40 setup but if this is the best stock head imma go with it also far as the intake goes are they good for more power or would they be restricted by a upgrade i don't really wanna do a whole **** ton just wanna run a mild cam and make the heads flow better

The stock LT1 intake supports 500HP easily. The aftermarket intakes (Edelbrock) are a downgrade. Let the head porter tweek the intake to match the heads.
