Ram Air on a 3rd Gen?
Ok i have a guy that lives next to me with the ram air kit that will fit my car. Actually i think it is for a firebird, but it says it will fit a 350 TPI 82-92' years. What my question is, is that would there be a way that i could use the kit without buying the hood. Like would there be a way to still use it and make gains without the hood?? i cannot afford a ram air hood so i was wondering if i could just use the kit to get some gains?? He said he would sell it to me for cheap if i wanted it so what do you think?? Maybe fabricate something??

why not just save the $$ and make your own?
fabricate a pair of ram-air tunnels from behind the fog lights and connect them to the bottom of the air box.
i did it on my 87 iroc and it gave VERY impressive gains on the highway. and living in florida i still never had problems with heavy rain.
i think you can get flexible heating duct material that works great for it.
search the web, there are several sites on how to do it.

Re: Ram Air on a 3rd Gen?
I think one of the problems with the firebird hood is it sticks out beyond the headlights in the middle, whereas the camaro hood goes straight across above the headlights. The firebird hood latch is farther forward. The camaro hood latch would get in the way. If you notice, the dual air filters go around the latch. I've been messing with the idea of flipping the air cleaner assy upside down and fabricating some kind of dual scoops (a different hood of course) for a ram air effect. or maybe some kind of flip up flap that would open to holes cut in the to of the air filter assy. Seems like a lot of work. Good luck.
