Ram Air Kit?

Ram Air Kit?
One quick question....I just bought a 1999 Camaro SS and I'm new to this whole mod thing. Through research and this website, I'm hearing a lot about the Ram Air Kit. What is it? What does it do? How much does it cost? Is it worth it? And where can i get it? Thanks.

Re: Ram Air Kit?
other than slp redoing your airbox, (im sure their are other ways) but cheap way to get ram air is with a supersucker ram air, also known as austin ram air or ssra. about $200 shipped. do a search for ssra. its a lower mount scoop that connects to the air assembly and funnels in air. no real evidence of gains on the dyno but you will notice better track times up to .2, and feel it on the highway.

Re: Ram Air Kit?
ok first of all...all ram air/most intake hp gains are theoretical, due to the power gains being at higher speeds...secondly for the price i would recommend doing something else, like an exhaust , headers , or possibly n2o

Re: Ram Air Kit?
you've got an SS already....you will see minimal gains going with something like the SSRA over the factory SS ram air.
possibly a little...but probably not a felt gain. $$ better spent elsewhere
