Re: rear wheel speed censor

A problem with the rear wheel speed sensor would set a code in the module for ABS and traction control (if equipped with optional TCS). It would turn on the ABS INOP light, not the SES light. Or, is it possible you have the code (P0500-manual trans, P0502-auto trans) for the vehicle speed sensor (VSS)? The VSS is mounted on the transmission tailshaft housing.

If it actually is the rear wheel speed sensor, does your car have ABS only (one sensor on top of differential housing), or ABS+TCS (two sensors - one sensor on the backing plate at each end of the axle assembly)?
