Replacing broken tranny mount

I think my tranny mount is broken, because I have a clunking sound when my car downshifts, especially at very low speeds. How much will this cost me to fix? I am NOT going to do the labor myself, as I won't have the time and space AT ALL in the next few weeks to fix this worsening problem. I've heard that a poly mount will run me between $20 and $50. So what's a reasonable price for me to pay?

You can find them for about $30. To bad you cant do it yourself cause it's very easy about 45min to replace it. Since you need someone else they charge per hour so maybe $75+part.

dude just fix it yourself...its not hard and doesnt take long...and i wouldnt think a broken tranny mount would really be a noticably worsening problem ...if it is its not really a big deal to wait a little just dont drive it hard

$34.99 at a GM dealership... really easy fix... jack the car up and i think its 5 bolts on the tranny support brace... should be about a half hour fix

if you can change your oil you can change the trans mount.

4 bolts hold the trans crossmember on, 1 bolt holding the mount to the trans and then 2 bolts holding mount to the crossmember.

seriously...not worth $50-75 for a shop to do it.

Re: Replacing broken tranny mount

mine went out last week adn i talked to a few people and they said it woul;d be best to have a jack and a lift! so i called my freind( because hsi dad is a mec, and has his own shop) and asked if he woudl do it for me! he said 10$( what a great friend but oh well only 10 bucks). he siad he couldnt get to it for a couople of days though. anywya i called up the tranny place that just did my tranny for me, and asked them what they would charge? they said 25 labor plus part. and they recommended a interlocking one form gm that is gauranteed for life, but it was a hair more expensive. so i called gm up and they said part was 69$. so i was looking at 80 bucks if i had my friend do it for me. so anyway took it to the tranny shop and it took teh guy about 10 minutes and the owner showed me his price on the mount and it was 39$, he told me 50$ and were done. so i belive that going to this shop was the cheapest way out for me. sorry for the long post, but thsi was the first time that it was cheaper fora shop to do it for me.
good luck to u, and it can very easily be done by urself
