Let the car idle and completely warm up and sketch the exact positions of all the needles before starting.
1. Remove the large plastic panal under the steering column. 4 screws
2. disconnect the rear defrost switch on the above part.
3. Remove the plastic bezel around the radio. 5 screws
4. remove or flex the very large flat dash panal to remove two screws securing the large gauge cluster.
5. remove additional screws securing above cover.
6. Remove this big cover of the intruments.
7. Remove screw securing the gauge cluster to the dash.
8. Remove the 2 connections to the rear of the gauge cluster.
9. Remove the gauge cluster from the car.
10. Remove the screws securing the the clear plastic lens to the cluster.
Most important:
11. Rotate all the needles to 12-oclock. This will work for all but one needle.
You need to remove the needles and ensure they are replaced in the exact same orientation or they will read wrong. It helps to make a few sketches of the positions.
12. Pull straight up on the needle to pop it loose. DO NOT FLEX IT SISES TO SIDE OR IT WILL BE DAMAGED, PULL STRAIGHT UP. You your left index finger and your right index finger to get under the needle and pry up. Do not try this with just one hand or you will bend the pintel.
13. Remove all needles.
14. Install new overlay.
15. Reinstall needles in the exact same they were removed.
16. Reverse order to reinstall into car plus make the 12V hookup for the transformer for the new overlay.
Tip.
Install the cluster so everything works but leave the clear plastic lens off. Let the car idle and check the gauges for accuracy. You can even drive the car to double check the speedo with another car and cell phones.
This should get you started.
