Re: Security led help
Then you need to post all the suggested info in every post so people can help you . Particularly the fact it isn’t a Camaro. There are differences between the Camaro and Firebird, particularly dash wiring. When you asked in another thread if shorty headers were worthwhile, people need to know if the engine is stockish or modified, and what mods. It affects the answer. In this security light question you posted in a forum that covers 1967-2002.... year was essential.
It actually allows people to give you more accurate and reliable responses.

Sorry didn't know. As for red security led, its a 1996, Pontiac Firebird. LT1, took out aftermarket car alarm an the led was plugged into the aftermarket module. So Im trying to figure out where the original connection is.

Re: Security led help
The "alarm" type theft deterrent system was an option in 1997. It is a separate system from the Pass-Key II (VATS) system. It would show RPO "UA6" on the Service Parts Identification label.
Are you saying someone left the red LED that is part of the optional optional UA6 system in the factory location - mounted on top of the instrument panel upper trim panel. Then they cut the wires for the LED, leaving the two wires attached by a connector to the red LED and then wired them to their aftermarket system?
The factory service manual shows that one side of the LED wire harness (green wire) goes to pin C16 on the body control module connector. The other wire (black) is the ground and runs to splice S217, which is a collection of ground wires that get their ground from G200. There is no single connector that connects the two LED wires to anything. See Volume 2 0f 2, Part 2 of 2, page 8A-133-2 in the 1996 factory service manual.. The pages following the wiring diagram tell you where each of the components.

Re: Security led help
That LED is NOT in the stock location, on TOP of the dash, centered near windshield. Stock is mounted in a larger diameter plastic bezel.Appears it was installed as part of the aftermarket alarm system, in a location that would be clearly visible to someone looking in the driver side door.
Since your Service Parts label doesn’t show UA6, the car doesn’t have the optional audible alarm, with shock monitor. Logically, why would someone put an aftermarket alarm in a car that had the OPTIONAL factory alarm?
No idea what the momentary switch was for. Whoever put it in was a real butcher.
