Re: Should I buy it?

If you buy it, no big deal to convert to a T56 with a complete package from a donor car. Shop around for a complete conversion package - flywheel, clutch, hydraulics, trans, shifter, electric harness, crossmember, console top, pedal assembly. The PCM would need to be reflashed. Possibly new rear gears if the car has the base 2.73 ratio (GU2 on the Service Parts Identification label). A GU5 would indicate a 3.23. The T56 comes with a GU6/3.42. Actually a good time to move up to 4.10’s.

Assuming the rest of the car is in decent condition, compare the $1,000 + cost of conversion package (+ labor if you don’t plan to do it yourself) to what is available for a T56 car on the open market.
