i have a random tech y pipe with gutted cats and edelbrock cat back and i get lots of compliments on the sound. i have gutted many cats but i always slid in a peice of pipe of the same diameter through the cat. on my random tech i did not and it sounds great.

 

I get a very loud gargle sound from my gutted cat through the stock exhaust but I have heard a gutted cat + hooker catback and it sounds VERY good, so thats my next mod.

its all a crock of sh*t... it sounds nice with gutted cats... i had gutted cats, and flowmnaster catback, then a 3" cutout on the front of the catback... sounded NICE... i got compliments 24/7.... i have a vid clip of it if you want. its .9 MB.... msg me on AIM/AOL: Binkyboy88 if you want... or email me @ Binkyboy88@***.net youll love it... not sure with stock catback, but with flowmasters... just made it a BIT louder... not much.... if you want loudness... pick up a cutout while your at it... i miss my car! but it will be revived!
