Speedometer acting weird...

I'm not sure what to make of this issue. Maybe someone else here has seen this...

First of all, the car is an 4l60e, been rebuilt less than a year ago and shifts just fine. Running a non-lockup 2800 stall converter. The driveshaft was swapped to a stock LS1 aluminum unit. Not sure if any of that makes a differance but there it is.

Here's the problem, the car runs perfect, bit of a rough idle but nothing worrysome. For the first few miles of diving everything is normal. But after a mile or so when I come to a stop the speedo needle doesn't go all the way to 0, it stops at around 5-6 mph and flutters. I can rev a bit, put the car in park, and it won't change. When the car is in motion it is reading the correct mph (based on gps) but at a stop its like it thinks it's moving. I don't think it's the gauge cluster.

Is this an issue with the VSS, the tranny, or something more serious? The car doesn't feel bad at all but it's a strange issue.

Re: Speedometer acting weird...

May be some electrical interference with the VSS signal. Let's move this off "...... Engine Tech".

No problem - wasn't sure where to put this anyway.

If it is electrical interference - what would cause that? Is the VSS bad?
