T56 - taking apart reverse synchro, this clip was loose.. need an expert

so I took off what was needed to get to my reverse synchro, it does not engage enough and likes to pop up out of gear (like most) and I want to shave the fork on top , then shim it (like I found on thirdgen.org) to get better engagement, but while I'm taking the stuff off when I got to this reverse synchro the flat "washer/clip" thing that's on bottom of this synchro with 3 tabs that you can see in the pic below was just loosely sitting under the synchro, it may have fallen off when I was getting the snap rings out or was just sitting there on its own, IDK.. should I just put it back in place per this pic or buy new synchro? what I don't know is if this clip is removable or should never come loose.

thanks in advance
