Now lets see if you get the passenger side done in an hour.

Rookie!!

The driver's side are actually quite "easy" in comparison to the passenger's side . It shouldn't take quite an hour to do just those 4, but hey, that's not really too bad. But if you took an hour there, expect to take at LEAST double that on the passenger's side. Definitely un-bolt the AIR tube off the exhaust manifold and get it out of your way. Some guys also like to pull the coil packs (I never have ... seems like the time "saved" by doing so would cancel out the time "lost" to re/re them ).

... and don't forget, you access #8 from UNDER the car .

Oh yeah, and be thankful you don't have an LT1 (sorry to those of you that do! ) .....

..... I helped my friend change the WIRES (no plugs, just wires) on his LT1 ... WOW, ~6 hours later?!!?! I'm not even kidding! Granted, that was the first time I'd ever worked on an LT1, but I think even an "experienced" person would take at least ~4 hrs to do plugs & wires on an LT1?!

I swear, the lights of heaven opened up and shined upon me as millions of angels sang hallelujah when I popped my LS1 hood and saw it had spark plug wires 3" long. I then fell to the floor and wept tears of joy.

Yeah, not really.. but I was pretty damn happy. LT1 spark plug/wire changes are NOT fun. OTVC wires sure do look good, though.

Shop times:

LT1:
Plugs- 2.7
Wires- 4.6

LS1:
Plugs- 2.7
Wires- 1.8

To me the LS1 plugs were a lot harder than the LT1. But the wires on the LT1 are a PITA if you actually route them correctly. Those guides by the alternator are retarded.

Thats a nice way of putting it. There is definitely a night and day difference between wire changes on my LT1 and my friends LS1. But then again, I consider us on a level playing field now that I have long tubes.

I will know the joy that is long tubes here in the next couple weeks! I think I'm going to have to change wires while I'm there, one of mine was arcing so it's temporarily covered with electrical tape.

Been working on car a long time. Back in the 60's or 70's there was an Olds or Buick that you had to cut a hole in the inner fender so you could get a socket on one of the plugs. The LT1 is worse!!!!
No one on here is exaggerating.

First time doing plugs/wires on an LT1 I finished in less than 2 hours. Hardest plug was #8, and all the wires were easy.

I really didn't have a problem with the plugs and wires on my LT1. Took a couple hours, but alot of the time was taken up by getting the OTVC wires setup and looking nice. Tracking down my crossed wires took more time.

Quick Reply: took me an hour to change my plugs!!!
