Re: Top Speed

Top speed is 160 MPH with either the manual or automatic, but please do not drive that fast on a public road.

Quarter mile times can vary greatly depending on driver skill and traction. Some street tires absolutely refuse to hook(like my Kuhmo's). I'd say a well driven, bone stock LS1 can pull quarter mile times ranging from 13.5 to 12.9 seconds.

Re: Top Speed

I believe LS1 F-Bodies are governed at 162 or 163 MPH.

As far as 1/4-mile times, that all depends on the driver. Go to the track and let us know how you do.

I don't know that they are "governed" at that speed, I was thinking it was simply the max that a stock 4th can go with given power and aerodynamics.

I, too, have heard that the stock speed limiter was set at 163 mph on all LT1 and LS1 f-bodies.

Re: Top Speed

Aerodynamics may start to hurt the car around ~170+, but they ARE capable of ~160. Not that I'd know that for sure or anything!? Look out though, 'cause if your car only came without Z-rated tires, then you'll be governed at ~115 mph!

1/4 mile times range from high 12's to low 14's, ~100 - 110 mph.....real specific, eh? It's true though.

Re: Top Speed

OH BOY, here we go again! Stock, my A4 went into OD at 135mph. I only took it to 140mph b/c of the wind in the car w/ windows up. In the 1/4 she ran best of 13.625@102, that was w/ the little 235/60/15! I believe, if you don't hit the gov at 115, you are ok. Besides, just have the gov removed.

Haha, suckers, my car has no limiter
It would probably fall apart if I took to 140 though

The officer that used to run my car said he and some other officers were messing around on I-20 in S.C and he said he was clocked by another officer running 178mph!! Ive had it to 155+(buried the speedo) and it was still pulling hard!

Not tryin' to start anything here, but I've repeatedly heard LS1 owners quote 12.9 sec 1/4 mile times. I've gone through most of the test data from the major magazines (car&driver, motor trend, etc.) and the best I've ever found for an LS1 F-Bod is 13.5, with most being in the 13.6-13.8 range. No offense, but the guys that test cars for those magazines are damn good drivers. Do that many people really drive better than the test drivers????? I kinda doubt it...

You must take into account for conditions and track prep and timing equipment. Lots of variables here. Also stock ls1's dyno around 295 - 320 depending on the car nad year. So some are gonna run better than others right out of the box.

Re: Top Speed

I had a bone stock 94 a4 formula 3.23 gears. Ran a 13.7@101 on GSCs. I buried the 155 mph speedometer. But that was pretty much it - no more in it. I was right at 5800 rpm at that speed in OD.

For those from Long Island, I did it going over the Robert Moses bridge starting from the traffic circle going toward 27A. Hit 125mph at the peek of the bridge, and used the downhill to get me to that speed fast enough and still be able to brake in time for the off ramp for 27A - sort of...

you also got to take into account that there are better drivers out there than the magazine guys (maybe not in road racing or whatever, but drag, sure)
now evan smith that drives for gm high tech, he is a good driver (he's the one that ran a 11.98 in the c5 z06 )
