No offense, but the guys that test cars for those magazines are damn good drivers. Do that many people really drive better than the test drivers????? I kinda doubt it...
Had there been a person in my car familiar with launching it " just 1.5 tenths better on my 60" My car would have rab a 12.9 fairly easy.
As far as the top speed these cars are govered around 160 but would have No problem pulling past that. The LT1 dont have as much power and I have old car and drivers rating its top speed as 160 governed and if the 275HP LT1 will do 160 the 330+ HP LS1 will run everybit of 170. But like pete says the wind will start holding it back a good amount at these speeds.
Not to mention I have done 147 pretty easy in my LT1 automaticbefore letting off.

Wasn't it Evan Smith who also ran an '01 or '02 Z28 M6 to a 12.89 @ 108 or something like that?? And that WAS published in a magazine.

Re: Top Speed
i thought i had hit the top speed in my 95, but my clutch was so gone. i was hitting the rev limiter in 6th and was just over the 150 mark....
wen the cltuch got replaced it pulled past that no prob.
and on another note, there were years that the stock lt1's didnt have speed limiters.

Re: Top Speed
I am a police offficer in Florida and back in 1995 I got off work at 0300 hrs. A fellow officer and I decided to see what my 1994 Z28 could do and went on I-75. I was clocked on radar by the Florida Highway Patrol at 162 mph and bought a 4 day suspension w/o pay from my department. The only reason I wasn't arrested was because of "professional courtsey" and I was still in full uniform. The 3 lanes of I-75 felt like they were 2 feet wide and it took a LONG time to stop. I now own a 2002 Camaro SS Limited Edition with the SLP 345 HP package, but I WILL NOT repeat what I did with my Z-28. My advice to everyone out there is do it on a race track....That could have been my last day on this planet.....I got away lucky buying 4 days off!!
