Wasn't it Evan Smith who also ran an '01 or '02 Z28 M6 to a 12.89 @ 108 or something like that?? And that WAS published in a magazine.

P.S. I've had my formula at 130mph down a state road, but that was with no traffic, flying by my girlfriend in her red durango. Yeah, that didnt go over well

01-02 aren't the only fast LS-1s.

Re: Top Speed
I've had my car up to 140 on I-65. What's amazing is how hard the car pulls at 120+, it didn't take anytime at all to reach 140. But now I need some new brakes(warped rotors), so I've kept under 100 for the past couple of months.

Re: Top Speed
A good friend of mine ran a 13.1 in her bone stock (stock airlid and all) '00 Z28 at baytown.
Ive also taken my 96 formula up to 160 and ridden with my friend up to 185 in his vette. That was fun.
BTW... vettes are 100x smoother than an F-Body at high speeds

No offense, but the guys that test cars for those magazines are damn good drivers. Do that many people really drive better than the test drivers????? I kinda doubt it...

If they really wanted to drive the hell out of them they could expirement with launch RPM and powershift the cars but they don't for comparison reasons. Even then, as good as drivers as those guys might be on a road course, auto-x, or back country road I doubt too many of them have much experience on the drag strip. I'd bet money on the fact that at any local drag strip's test and tune night there's some guy in a "Chevy Racing" shirt that could bang out a Motortrend test driver in a straight line simply because drag racing enthusiasts have had much more seat time at the tree then the maintream magazine test drivers.
Whenever one of our friends have a car and cant seem to get the times they know it can run, they call Him. You wont find his name in Motertrend.
