v6 to v8 swap question, are the inside car harness the same v6 or v8?

v6 to v8 swap question, are the inside car harness the same v6 or v8?
I have a complete Lt1 T56 dropout on a K member and want to install it into a v6 car. My engine and PCM harness is complete and still on the engine, just removed from the donor at the 3 plugs behind the passenger side kick panel. Is it possible to plug in a LT1 engine/PCM harness at the 3 plugs in the kick panel to the harness in a v6 car? Any differences in the wiring harnesses under the dash and out the left side firewall between v6 and v8 or are they the same? Thanks!

No, I have a complete K member with an LT1 T56 and PCM with wiring. wiring is disconnected from the original car at plugs C210 C220 and C230, I want to know if I can plug those 3 plugs into a v6 car under dash harness. Assuming the cars are the same year.

So, you *might* have a missing option on the v6 harness. Oh well. The car should still run.

Looking at the pinouts the worst problem I can see is that the cruise might not work right.

theres a link to shoebox's page that has those connector pinouts for the various years. I did a 94 drivetrain into a '93 body and had to move some wires around in those connectors. I kept the 4l60e and ditched the speed density setup with the 700r4. Just look at the year harness you're going to use, and compare it to the v6 harness pinouts and make the changes to the v6 harness pins to match your eng. harness. Its not tough at all. Use a pin or needle to release the pins and move them to the correct cavities.

Here's a link to the Shoe Box site. I'm not familiar with the site to point you to the pinout information you're looking for. You can also download complete copies of the different model years factory service manuals here which should have the same information.

Shoebox electrical - note item #2
4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech Aids
Lot's of other useful info on that list. Item #1 clarifies harness connections and sensors. #54 shows the data link connector (DLC) 95 vs. 96. The references are almost all specific to the LT1. You would have to look at the 1996 factory service manual mentioned immediately above to verify the V6 vs. V8 body connector pinouts. Check the coolant fan hookups.... I don't know if the V6 used dual fans with low/high speed control like the V8. And the 95 moved the “PCM BAT” fuse from the instrument panel to the under hood box, and at some point is may have been moved back.
You may also need to address the instrument cluster, since the oil pressure gauge is different, and the V6 gets tach input from the ICM, while the V8 gets tach input from the PCM.
