Vats Key Question

I just did the Vats bypass on my 93 camaro, the security light is now off and the car starts fine. I currently only have one key for the vehicle, so i went to ACE hardware and explained to them i wanted my current key duplicated if possibly on regular key blanks as i had vats bypassed. They matched up my key as good as they could with a a few of there blanks they had in stock and cut both of them, neither of the keys would turn the ignition cylinder over to start the vehicle, one of them went in some and stopped..and the next key went it all the way but would not turn. Is there a regular cheaper key blank out there that can be cut off my original GM vats key and work to start my car or do i still have to go with original style vats keys with pellets even though i have the vats bypass? thanks for your help in advance.

You just probably need to go somewhere better than ACE hardware.

How old is the key they're trying to duplicate? I'm thinking it may be so worn down they can't get a good cut.
