Re: What is this??

That is the EVAP (charcoal canister) purge line. Engine vacuum, from a port on the side of the throttle body, pulls fuel vapor out of the canister (in the driver side rear fender, by the gas tank fill pipe), through that line, through the EVAP purge solenoid, when the PCM commands the solenoid open.

All you need is a short piece of fuel resistant rubber vacuum hose that will fit snugly over the nylon hose and the metal pipe. It just looks like “foam” because it is so badly rotted.

With that connector missing, you have a vacuum leak when the PCM operates the EVAP purge solenoid.

Thanks for the reply, I went to the autoparts store before reading this and picked up a small fuel line hose that fit perfectly but after reading your post I took a look at the hose I installed and it says not for fuel injected cars?? Will I be ok seeing as theres hardly any pressure going through since it’s just an evap line? Or should I try to find a different hose

Re: What is this??

There's no pressure at all in that line, just occasional vacuum. Good that it’s rated for fuel, and hopefully it’s stiff enough that it won’t collapse under vacuum. Should be OK.
