I was just curious of the function of the two brakets of the rear deck of my 2000 SS. I know it sounds like a stupid question but I have to ask it. Thanks alot guys.

luggage tie downs i always believed

 

Are you talking about the pieces that go from the deck to the spoiler? if so it's just for appearence and comes with the SS spoiler.

 

They are used to secure child seats.
I believe that it was a goverment mandate in 1997(?)

 

The dealer told me they were luggage tie downs when I bought mine new in '00... although the later response makes more sense... The same tie downs are in the luggage area of my dads suburban, so they def are for luggage too

 

My T/A doesn't have those neither did my Formula, must be a Camaro thing?

 

They are 100% tie downs for a childs safety seat. No ifs ands or luggage rack

 

Jay's right they are anchors for child car seats

 

Yep, child seat restraints . However, I'm using one of them as an amp hold down.
