What gears would you guys suggest?

My rear is about to explode and wondered what you guys might suggest or if I should just stick with getting the 3.42s fixed. Its going in the shop this coming Monday to be torn apart.

I would suggest 3.73's if you are going to replace them. IMO you don't have enough mods in your car to get your money's worth with 4.10's. On a side note, are you like sponsored by SLP or something? lol

Yeah go with 3.73's. I have a friend that has a 10 sec car on a 200 shot and he would have kept the stock gears but his 12 bolt came with 3.73's. He likes them just fine.

I would do the 3.73s like the others suggested. As for other performance mods, I would definitely look into doing a set of headers, that will add a modest power increase.

Id say stick with the 3.42 in the back. I have them and I think they are the perfect balance. And besides, if you go from 3.42 to a 3.73, its not going to make a difference.

There are alot of different styles and brands which will vary roughly in price. My Pacesetter long tubes for example ran 450, plus another 130 for the y-pipe.

Yea with the already high cost of fixing the rear, pumping out another $1000+ is not going to work for me right now. What other less expensive mods might you suggest?

Roller rockers and springs or a mail order tune would be less costly, but effective mods.

Got a call from shop... rear gears are WAY screwed. He even said to me "Did you know your "suppose" to have a posi rear?"... anyway I had the option of a junk rear with 30 day warrenty or a brand spankin new Jasper 3.42 rear with 3 yr warrenty so that is what is being put on this Wednesday along with some new window motors (should be less embarrasing now to go to the Mcdonalds drive thru... lol) and waiting on pricing for QA1 front shocks and QA1 rear shocks and springs.

I figured I would stick with the 3.42's cause Im already tuned for them plus I do a lot of highway miles for work. Im also into the street scene and not the track so I think overall I am best served with the 3.42's.

As far as other mods that'll help headers are the way to go. They're expensive but pay off big.

i like my 4.10's but wouldn't put them in again unless i got a new rear end so i could get more traction. she is quick now but almost too quick for stock suspension
